Four Tips for Maintaining Your Car’s Tires

HRS AutoCare • July 1, 2021

Tires are like shoes for your car. They protect your car’s “feet,” give it proper traction and help you to keep going where you want to go. HRS AutoCare has these tips for maintaining your car’s tires like a pro.

Check Tire Pressure Regularly

Your car’s owner’s manual lists out what your tire pressure should be. If you don’t have that information handy, it’s also on a sticker on the inside of the driver’s side door. Don’t rely on your car’s automatic TPMS to let you know that there’s a problem. Checking your tire pressure ensures you’re aware of what’s going on with your tires regularly.

Visually Inspect Your Tires

While you’re there checking the pressure, take a close look at the tread on your car’s tires. Are you noticing uneven wear anywhere? If so, it’s best to figure out why. HRS AutoCare can help you to narrow down the causes, especially if you’re seeing or hearing other symptoms in relation to your tires and how your car is driving.

Schedule Rotations and Wheel Alignments Routinely

Preventative maintenance is always key with car care. Make sure that you’re keeping up with when your tires should be rotated and when you should have your wheel alignment checked and adjusted. By doing that, you’re going to be better able to keep your tires in the best condition possible for as long as possible.

Don’t Ignore Noise, Pulling, or Vibrations

It’s really important with so many aspects of car maintenance that you don’t ignore anything that’s odd or different. If you’re hearing new noises from your tires, you need to get that checked out. If the car is pulling to one side or if you’re feeling vibrations while you’re driving, those are also indications that there’s something going on. Ignoring those issues is only going to lead to bigger problems down the line and you don’t want to have to pay for a costly repair simply because you let something go for too long.
