Four Signs of Battery Trouble

HRS AutoCare • August 1, 2021

What does it look like when your car has battery trouble? It turns out that there are several different symptoms you might experience, and HRS AutoCare has a list to help you recognize signs of trouble.

You’ve Got Dashboard Warning Lights

Before things get really bad, you might have some dashboard warning lights making an appearance. These vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, so you might see BAT, ALT, or GEN somewhere on the dashboard. Other manufacturers use an icon that looks a bit like a battery to indicate trouble in the electrical system. Get familiar with your car’s particular warning signs in the owner’s manual.

Accessories Are Not Functioning

Few car owners don’t plug any accessories into their car. In today’s modern life, we use a ton of tools that need power. You might notice that your cell phone charger isn’t working anymore or that your GPS device is acting weird. These are sometimes an initial indication that your car’s battery just doesn’t have enough juice from the alternator and the rest of the electrical system to keep everything running the way that it should.

It’s Tough or Impossible to Start Your Car

Your car’s battery is the main source of power for starting the whole combustion process when you fire up your car. No battery or weak battery? And it’s going to be really difficult or even impossible for you to start your car. That’s a scary moment for any car owner, but it’s a big warning that you can’t put off getting the issue diagnosed any longer.

Jumpstarting Your Car Is Becoming Too Regular an Occurrence

Jumpstarting your car once is another big sign that you have a battery problem. If you’re ignoring that warning and you’re finding that you need multiple jumpstarts, that’s a bigger problem and you’re on borrowed time. It’s possible that your battery only needed to be charged before, but continued jumpstarts and drains may kill off the battery completely. That means you definitely have to replace the battery when that might not have been fully necessary if you’d taken action after the first jump.

Don’t ignore your car’s battery issues. Give us a call at HRS AutoCare in Nicholasville, KY and we can test your battery and your car’s electrical system for you. If the problem is more than just the battery, you’ll know exactly what your car needs to get back on the road again.
